OUR ANCHOR IN UNCERTAIN TIMES!
As we look back on 2018, for many of us, it has been a difficult year. It has been difficult on a personal level, but we have also faced difficult financial, economic and political circumstances.
The amazing thing is that regardless of the difficulties, God has brought us this far, and we would do well to look back over 2018 and identify the breakthroughs, blessings, healings, protection and provision we have had from the Lord. It is good to remember what God has done, because it renews our faith and our trust in Him to help us in the future. The Psalmist wrote this: Psalm 77:10-12 (NKJV) And I said, “This is my anguish; But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.” 11 I will remember the works of the Lord; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. 12 I will also meditate on all Your work, And talk of Your deeds.
The great question as we prepare to enter 2019 is this: WHERE WILL WE PLACE OUR TRUST?
Here are some scriptures that will point us in the right direction:
Psalm 20:7 (NKJV) Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
Psalm 28:7 (NKJV) The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.
Psalm 44:6-7 (NKJV) For I will not trust in my bow, Nor shall my sword save me. 7 But You have saved us from our enemies, And have put to shame those who hated us.
When facing an uncertain future WE MUST PLACE OUR TRUST IN GOD!
Psalm 9:10 (NKJV) And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
WHEN WE PLACE OUR TRUST IN GOD, IT MEANS WE HAVE ACKNOWLEGED OUR OWN WEAKNESS AND INABILITY TO HELP OURSELVES.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NKJV) And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
CONCLUSION
Where shall I place my trust when facing an uncertain future?
Psalm 91:1-2 (NKJV) He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
Let us place our trust in the Lord our God, let us abide in Him and take refuge in Him, and then let us embrace the uncertainties that lay before us in 2019 with courage, faith and fervor.
Psalm 65:11 (NKJV) You crown the year with Your goodness, And Your paths drip with abundance. The God in whom we trust is able to bless us and crown the year with His glory.
My prayer for you as we go into 2019 is that regardless of the uncertainties and challenges you may face, you will place your trust in God. He is everything you need. May He be your Anchor in uncertain times.

When facing an uncertain future WE MUST PLACE OUR TRUST IN GOD!
- We must place our trust in God alone!
- Let us not trust in chariots and horses – Don’t place your trust in other people or other things.
- Let us not trust in the bow and the sword – Don’t trust in your own strength and ability.
- God is our strength in weakness, He is our shield of protection, He will save us from our enemies and from those who hate us.
- We must trust Him with our hearts – this is not a mental thing, it’s a whole-hearted trust in the King of all creation.
Psalm 9:10 (NKJV) And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
- Do you know God’s name? Do you know about Him or do you know Him intimately? Do you know Him as the Most High, The Lord our God? Do we know Him as Almighty God, our Banner, our Strength, our Healer, our Provider, our Protector? Is He your personal Lord and Savior?
- Those who know God personally can joyfully place their trust in Him and know that He will not forsake them or let them down.
- Psalm 37:25 (NKJV) I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread.
- When we are weak, God is strong on our behalf.
- When we acknowledge our infirmities, our lack, our problems and our challenges, and give them to God, the power of Christ can come and rest on us and our strength is made perfect in Him.
- Now, instead of fearing infirmities, reproaches, needs, persecutions, and distresses, we can take pleasure in them because they are an opportunity for God to be glorified as He moves on our behalf.
