In my quiet time yesterday, I picked up these words from Psalm 119:2 "Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with their whole heart.
As one thinks about God's word, this theme of "with all your heart comes up time and again. Let's look at some of those scriptures:
Deuteronomy 6:4-5 (NKJV) “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
Deuteronomy 4:29 (NKJV) But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
2 Chronicles 15:3-4 (NKJV) For a long time Israel has been without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law; 4 but when in their trouble they turned to the Lord God of Israel, and sought Him, He was found by them.
1 Chronicles 28:9 (NKJV) “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.
Psalm 119:2 (NKJV) Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart!
Psalm 119:10 (NKJV) With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!
Matthew 22:37 (NKJV) Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
- This scripture refers to the fact that the Israelites were to have ONE god only, the Living God, and must serve Him with every part of their being - I believe God desires the same from you and I today.
- We cannot have shared allegiances, placing God among other priorities in our lives, H must come first. This is in line with Matthew 6:33 whish tells us to seek first the Kingdom of God.
- These scriptures speak of God's great mercy. He wants us to be in continual relationship with Him, but sometimes we get it wrong. Here lies a wonderful promise that the moment we come to our senses and turn back to seek Him, He will be found by us!
- "All my heart" means a loyal heart and a willing mind - we need to serve the lord without any misgiving or restraint.
- Once again we see the promise, "If you seek Him, He will be found by you"
Psalm 119:2 (NKJV) Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart!
Psalm 119:10 (NKJV) With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!
- It's a blessed things to seek the Lord with all our hears - let us never wander from doing so!
Matthew 22:37 (NKJV) Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
- There is no greater commandment. let us love God with all that is within us. May He be the very center of our hopes and dreams and everything we do.
